In 2018 Karl Marshall and a small dedicated group of volunteers managed to pull off what some people said would never happen in Guernsey. A closed road rally similar to what our sister island had been running for over 30 years. It was never going to be a massive event with 16 special stages, consisting of no longer than a mile per stage. Against all odds, it happened and with an entry of 25 cars. the first guernsey rally took place with great responses from crews and spectators alike. With Jersey crew Ross Le Noa and Dom Volante taking the honours
2019 and the second running of the event took place place over Friday evening and Saturday. With 8 short stages to open proceedings, With another 16 on the Saturday. this time with entries up in thirties and more guernsey crews with newer and uprated machinery to compete and the seasoned Jersey crews. however the result was the same as 2018 with Le Noa and Volante taking the top spot. can they make it 3 from 3 and complete the hat trick of wins.
Event History
The 2020 Rally was a closely fought, single-day event. Jersey crew Ross Le Noa and Domonic Volante in their Ford Escort MK2 emerged as the overall winners by a mere one second and completed their hat trick of wins
The rally consisted of 15 stages run across three different parishes. There were a total of 33 cars competing, including many visiting crews from Jersey, leading to strong local rivalry.
2022 marked the event's return after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was widely considered a success, featuring a record number of entries and diverse stages. The event saw its biggest field yet, with 31 entries including 12 visiting crews from the UK and Jersey. Yet again the winners were Ross Le Noa and Dominic Volante having their 4th consecutive win
Unfortunately the 2023 event experienced some disruptions due to protests so some stages had to be cancelled on the Friday evening, it consisted of 39 stage miles.
This was potentially the largest entry the event had ever seen, comprising of both local and visiting crews from Jersey and the UK. Of the 34 starters, 26 crews managed to finish all stages of the rally. Ross Le Noa had is 5th win but this time with a different Navigator Christina Holley
2024 the event was cancelled due to the States of Guernseys concerns over the significant staff time and administration costs required for road closures
The Rally made a successful return in 2025 with its biggest field yet of 38 entries. It featuring 28 competitive special stages across 7 different routes, totalling approximately 58 stage miles. Many visiting crews from Jersey and the UK participated, boosting local tourism during a typically quiet month. It was widely considered as “the best one yet” by both organisers and spectators, the event was dedicated
to the memory of Committee Member Graham Robert who was an avid rally fan
Jersey crew Ross Le Noa and Domonic Volante continued their dominant run, securing their sixth consecutive victory at the event.
